Cell Energy

Energy conversion is a key property shared by living things. Cellular respiration and photosynthesis are the main energy conversion processes in ecosystems. All living things use cellular respiration to convert the energy stored in carbohydrates to ATP and most producers use photosynthesis to convert light energy to stored chemical energy. Biological processes, including preparation and photosynthesis, are dependent on enzymes to catalyze chemical reactions.

The cell energy simulation can be used to study photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and primary productivity.

The diffusion and osmosis simulation can be used to study molecule movement across a semipermeable membrane.

The enzyme simulations can be used to study basic enzyme function.
